THE BEGINNING
Kellye began her comedy career just a few years ago in June 2006. She was always considered a class clown, but a career as a stand-up comedienne didnt enter the overly enegetic super-stars mind until she was 24 years of age. Many people told her she should try doing stand-up, but it didn't become evident until she had a well known talent scout laughing uncontrollably while trying to sell him shoes as a footlocker sales rep. This talent scout then introduced her to a local comedian within the Chicago land area in 2002, who gave her an opportunity to perform as an opener on his show. Kellye received a standing ovation that evening. Even though she felt the rush from audiences response, Kellye didn't go on to fully commit to comedy until years later....in 2006!
SUCCESS THUS FAR
Kellye's drive has pushed her into the fore front of comedy, and considered one of the leading ladies of comedy by many. She opened up for Katt Williams at the Arie Crown theater in Chicago just months after starting her comedy career on New Years Eve of 2006. She went on to travel the world blessing people with her comedy to include the troops of Korea while six months pregnant. Kellye has recently been seen on COMEDY CENTRAL'S Russell Simmons presents "Stand-up at the El Rey". Last year Kellye was a feature in one of the several shows within the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival by TBS, now she is one of the Host for the All Female show held at Jokes and Notes. Kellye signature saying is "LAUGHTER TAKES THE PAIN AWAY, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND LAUGH TODAY!!!" She lives by this slogan and promotes the beauty of laughter throug her comedy, her products, and the smile she wears EVERYDAY!
HER INSPIRATION
Kellye recieves her comedic inspiration from her family and friends. Though she has great admiration for some of the best comedians in history (i.e., Bernie Mac, Lucille Ball, Moms Mably), she contibutes the bulk of her success to the support of her family. Kellye's comedic range stretches from the smallest detail of her daughters school day, to the biggest laugh she's ever experienced. Whats most repsected about Chicago's own comedic powerhouse is her personable approach to EVERYONE she encounters. Kellye loves to talk and laugh and smile, therefore she does it willingly all the time.
